Most effective mosquito repellent against Zeka
The Zeka virus is spread through the bite of an infected (Aedes) mosquito. Most people who get infected with the Zeka virus do not even know it because the symptoms are usually mild. They may have a fever, headache, rash, joint paint and red eye that lasts from a few days to a week. However many people will have no symptoms at all.
Because pregnant women and those planning to get pregnant are most at risk as their babies may be born with Microcephaly, it is very important that they follow the guidelines recommended. At the present time, there is no vaccine or drug to treat the Zeka virus so it’s up to each one of us to know the best ways to prevent bites from mosquitoes.
One of the best way to fight the Zeka virus is with the use of insect repellents. The most effective mosquito repellent will contain at least 20% Picaridin or 15% Deet. These can also be sprayed over your clothing for added protection.
1. Sawyer Picaridin Repellent
2. Ben’s 30% Deet Tick & Insect Wilderness Repellent
3. Repel Lemon Eucalyptus Repellent
4. Natrapel 8 hour
5. Johnson OFF Deep Woods VIII
Wear long sleeve shirts and long pants if going outdoors especially during the evening hours. Spraying insect repellent over your clothing will provide extra protection. Staying indoors with air conditioning is probably a good choice anyway especially during the hot summer months.
During summer months, many of us will have picnics, go hiking, fishing, camping, play sports and enjoy the great outdoors so use common sense and remember to bring your insect repellent with you.
